Recently, I embarked on a 4-day journey through Vietnam, and it turned out to be one of the most colorful, flavorful, and enriching travel experiences of my life.

Our journey began in Hanoi, Vietnam’s capital and a city that beautifully blends old-world charm with modern buzz. After checking into our boutique hotel in the Old Quarter, we set out to explore on foot.

We started at Hoan Kiem Lake, a serene spot in the city center, followed by a stroll through the bustling lanes of the Old Quarter. The area is filled with street vendors, local markets, and colonial-era buildings. For lunch, we tried Vietnam’s most iconic dish—pho—at a family-run eatery recommended by locals.

In the evening, we watched the Thang Long Water Puppet Show, a unique Vietnamese art form that dates back centuries. To top it off, a strong Vietnamese iced coffee at a rooftop café gave us a beautiful night view of Hanoi.

Day 2: Ha Long Bay Cruise – Nature at Its Finest

Day 3: Ninh Binh Day Trip – Vietnam’s Hidden Gem

On day three, we headed to Ninh Binh, often called “Ha Long Bay on land.” It’s less crowded than its coastal cousin but equally stunning. We took a sampan boat ride through the Tam Coc caves, winding through lush rice paddies and karst cliffs.

The highlight was climbing up to the Hang Mua Viewpoint, which rewarded us with panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. We ended the day with a peaceful bike ride through local villages and temples.

Day 4: Farewell Vietnam – Last Sips and Souvenirs

Our last morning was relaxed. We wandered through Hanoi’s French Quarter, visited the Temple of Literature, and grabbed last-minute souvenirs from Dong Xuan Market.

We ended the trip the way it began—over a hot bowl of pho and strong egg coffee, reflecting on the cultural kaleidoscope Vietnam had offered us in just four days.
